Asta Jonasson writes literary novellas that explore moral complexity, murder, and life beyond death, spanning psychological thrillers and science fiction adventures. Drawing from the tradition of expertly crafted mysteries, her writing combines classic mystery structure with modern noir sensibilities and layered deception. Her debut novella The Mysterious Death of a Woman employs an innovative dual narrative structure alternating between a pharmaceutical inventor’s obsessive investigation and his wife’s haunting voice, exploring surveillance culture and corporate corruption. Born in Singapore to a Chinese mother and Icelandic father, she was raised in Burnaby, British Columbia, where she studied psychology and criminology, earning her Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University. She spent more than 10 years working in TV and film development for a major studio before transitioning to novel writing. She is a Canadian and American citizen and lives in Los Angeles, California and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
